Day 1
27 August

Scouting & Inclusion

Opening and workshop launch

  • Morning

    Opening ceremony by NVBB (In Benin), the organiser. Presentation of the KANVO Digital 2028 cohort: Kanvo women artisans from the National Register of Artisans (RNA) of CMA-Bénin.

  • Afternoon

    Launch of the couture excellence workshop with NVBB (In Benin): cutting and assembling the Kanvo pieces, capacity building and gender approach (SDG 5).

  • Evening

    Welcome reception for the women artisans, partners and buyers.

Day 2
28 August

Craft & Creation

Couture excellence workshop

  • Morning

    Couture excellence workshop: finishing, labelling and a record for each piece (pattern, meaning, dimensions, composition).

  • Afternoon

    Meetings with professional buyers. Photos of the pieces by NVBB (In Benin) for nenthol.nl.

  • Evening

    Showcase: the women artisans present their Kanvo pieces.

Day 3
29 August

Quality & Fair Trade

Quality check and exclusive sale

  • Morning

    Quality check of the finished pieces by NVBB (In Benin), at the workshop.

  • Afternoon

    Exclusive sale of the pieces checked by NVBB (In Benin), on site and online at nenthol.nl.

  • Evening

    Closing ceremony and presentation of attendance letters to the women artisans.

Before and after

Event calendar

From site build-up to the recommended departure day.

  1. Site build-up by the organising team (NVBB (In Benin)). The women artisans set up the workshop from 26 August.

  2. Recommended arrival in Cotonou, the day before opening.

  3. KANVO Digital 2028. Couture excellence workshop, NVBB (In Benin) quality check and exclusive sale of the pieces.

  4. Site teardown and recommended departure day.

Eligibility criteria

  • Kanvo women artisans (weaving and sewing) listed in the National Register of Artisans (RNA) of CMA-Bénin, branch 5: Textiles and clothing. A woman artisan who is not yet registered can be reported to CMA-Bénin by NVBB (In Benin), with her consent.
  • Selected every year by NVBB (In Benin), organiser of KANVO Digital.
  • Commitment to follow the NVBB (In Benin) support: capacity building and gender approach (SDG 5).
  • Pieces in local and natural materials (Kanvo, cotton, plant dyes), carefully finished for the NVBB (In Benin) quality check.

Documents required from each applicant

  • RNA number (National Register of Artisans of CMA-Bénin), or the artisan's consent for NVBB (In Benin) to report her to CMA-Bénin.
  • Copy of an ID document (national identity card or passport).
  • 3 to 5 sharp photographs of your Kanvo pieces.
